Layer: Bedrock Geology 500K - Contact Pinchouts (ID: 0)

View In:   ArcGIS Online Map Viewer

Name: Bedrock Geology 500K - Contact Pinchouts

Display Field: SHAPE.len

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolyline

Description: This data layer contains the 1:500,000-scale bedrock-geology pinchouts for Ohio. The pinchouts represent geologic units that are too thin to be represented as polygons on the Bedrock Geologic Map of Ohio. This was necessary because, in these areas, the spacing between the bounding contact lines was to close together to visualize the color used to represent the unit on the map. These geologic units are, in these areas, represented as a bold line, that is about two times the width of the line used to illustrate the contact between individual mapped units on the geologic map.
