GV maps describe each area aquifer’s relative vulnerability to groundwater contamination, with lower Index values indicating less vulnerable conditions and higher values indicating higher vulnerability. They are calculated by weighing and summing the 7 DRASTIC parameters (D – Depth to Water, R – Net Recharge, A - Aquifer Media, S – Soil Media, T – Topography, I – Impact of Vadose Zone Media, C – Hydraulic Conductivity) according to the following formula, where W is the parameter’s weight and R its rating: GV Index= WD•RD+ WR•RR+ WA•RA+ WS•RS+ WT•RT+ WI•RI+ WC•RC. |
