Description: The ODNR_Lands feature class is a digital representation of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources land facility boundaries. These include all state owned, leased, or managed lands such as parks, forests, wildlife areas, natural areas or preserves, fishing and/or boating access areas, conservation easements, and other minor landholdings such as wildlife production areas, fish hatcheries, and various office/headquarter areas. Created initially in the late-1980's, it is a dynamic feature class. Maintenance is required to reflect the addition of new facilities as well as changes to the boundaries of existing facilities.Various methods of data capture have been used over time to build the feature class. Originally, facility boundaries were drafted onto USGS 7.5 minute quadrangle maps, georeferenced, and digitized directly using ArcView or pcArcInfo. As ESRI software became more robust, additional methods became available. Some boundaries have been created by traversing from property deed descriptions. Others have been created by extracting the component parcels from county parcel shapefiles.
